We really enjoyed participating in Open Harvest’s CSA Fair on March 8th. We had a great time enjoying the warm sunshine and talking with veggie lovers.
On March 5th our seed order arrived! Hip! Hip! Hooray! and a little bit of Yikes! There were A LOT OF SEED PACKETS! But the excitement of the new varieties got us going!
That was the mess that Kate organized two weeks ago, so that we are a bit more efficient in our planting and overall, just making life a little bit easier!
The plants in the basement are growing, germinating, and generally happy.
Jeremiah and Kate attended the TEDX Manhattan talks co-sponsored by Open Harvest Co-Op Grocery, Community Crops and Lincoln Green by Design. It was held at the NET Building next to East Campus and was free to all. The TEDTALKS were all about “Changing The Way We Eat.” You can listen to any of the talks here: TEDXMANHATTAN. Each talk lasts about 5-10 minutes and I would HIGHLY recommend taking a few minutes to listen to many of the speakers. My personal favorites are: (#12) Nikki Silvestri (The complexity and rich experience of building true allies while working to create change) and (#9) Sunny Young (School food in Mississippi) and (#14) Clint Smith (Resilience: Reframing the Narrative Around Our Students). I know it’s a busy time of year, but i hope you take the time to at least listen to those three speakers..and all he rest, too:)
